Our membership ensures we stay at the forefront of best practices and innovative solutions, bringing our customers the highest quality radiant heating systems available.

Radiant Floor Heating
Hydronic radiant floor heating brings warmth directly through your floors, creating consistent comfort without the drafts or noise of forced-air systems. At D&D Plumbing, we design and install radiant systems under a variety of flooring types making it one of the most versatile heating options for Northern Nevada homes and businesses.
Where Radiant Floor Heating Works Best
Under Tile Floors
Tile floors are naturally cool to the touch, making them perfect for hydronic radiant heating. Bathrooms, kitchens, and entryways become warm, comfortable spaces year-round in your home or business.
Under Hardwood Floors
Radiant heating can be safely installed under hardwood, providing even warmth that won’t warp floors. It’s a discreet and efficient heating solution for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and more.
Under Concrete Slabs
Basements, garages, and slab-on-grade homes benefit from radiant systems installed directly in concrete. This setup retains heat efficiently and helps maintain comfort in cooler areas of the home.
Radiant Wall & Ceiling Panels
Radiant heating doesn’t just belong under floors—it can also be installed in walls and ceilings for flexible, efficient comfort. Using hydronic panels, these systems radiate heat evenly throughout a room without the need for ducts, vents, or visible equipment.
Radiant wall and ceiling panels are especially valuable for custom or niche applications where floor installation isn’t practical, such as rooms with limited floor space, high-end flooring finishes, or retrofit projects. They’re a great option for:
Bedroom & Living Areas
Add discreet, draft-free comfort where traditional heating may fall short.
Home Offices
Maintain a steady temperature without relying on noisy forced-air systems.
Renovations & Remodels
Integrate radiant heating in spaces where floor systems aren’t ideal.
Heat Pump Integration
Radiant heating pairs perfectly with modern heat pump systems, creating one of the most energy-efficient ways to heat (and even cool) a home. Instead of generating heat through fuel combustion, heat pumps transfer energy from the air or ground into water, which is then circulated through your radiant system.

Ground Source (Water-to-Water) Heat Pumps
Also known as geothermal systems, these units use stable underground temperatures to provide consistent heating and cooling. They’re highly efficient, offer lower operating costs, and are ideal for long-term homeowners who want a sustainable solution.
Air-to-Water Heat Pumps
Air-to-water systems draw energy from the outside air and transfer it into water for use in radiant heating. Designed to perform in cold climates, these systems deliver year-round comfort while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Benefits of Heat Pumps
Efficiency
Heat pumps reduce energy use by 50% or more compared to traditional systems.
Sustainability
Lower carbon emissions and compatibility with renewable energy sources.
Versatility
Provide heating in winter and cooling in summer when paired with radiant systems.
System Design & Planning
A successful radiant heating system begins with careful design. At D&D Plumbing, we specialize in creating customized system layouts that balance comfort, efficiency, and long-term performance.
Load Calculations
Every property has unique heating requirements. Our technicians perform detailed heat loss and load calculations to determine the exact amount of energy each space needs. This ensures your system is neither oversized (which wastes energy) nor undersized.
Zoning Plans
We create zoning plans that divide your home or building into separate heating zones, allowing for different temperatures in different rooms. Advanced systems can even provide multiple temperatures within a single room for ultimate comfort and efficiency.
Integration & Efficiency
Our design process accounts for your flooring type, insulation, and lifestyle. By combining hydronic heating design with modern controls, we create systems that operate efficiently and keep energy bills low for your home or business.
Servicing & Repairs
Our team of radiant heat experts also offers maintenance services and repairs to ensure your radiant system continues to run smoothly for your home or business.
Recent Radiant Heat Projects
Duffy Residence | Lake Tahoe, CA
For this new construction project, D&D Plumbing installed plumbing, radiant heating, and a snow melt system powered by two Weil McLain Ultra 230 boilers for load sharing and redundancy. Copper distribution piping was sized for optimal fluid velocity, with radiant tubing in counter-flow spiral patterns for even heat. The snow melt system was spaced at 9” centers for 125 BTU/sq ft output. Domestic hot water is supplied through a FlatPlate heat exchanger to two 120-gallon tanks, with full Tekmar and Erie control integration for efficient heating management.
Somers Loop | Lake Tahoe, CA
This new build featured a similar system design to the Duffy Residence, including two Weil McLain Ultra 230 boilers for redundancy, carefully sized copper piping, and counter-flow spiral tubing layouts. Snow melt was installed at 9” centers for consistent winter performance, and domestic hot water was integrated through a FlatPlate heat exchanger with dual storage tanks. Advanced Tekmar controls and thermostats allow zone-specific adjustments and efficient sequencing between radiant, snow melt, and hot water production.
Lakeshore | Lake Tahoe, CA
D&D Plumbing provided full residential plumbing, radiant heating, and snow melt for a 10,500 sq ft main home plus a 3,000 sq ft guest wing and garage. The main house radiant system used two Weil McLain CGa-8 boilers with primary/secondary piping and injection tempering, feeding 20 heating zones. Snow melt was powered by a Teledyne Laars Mighty Max 625 boiler with Tekmar controls and sensors. The guest wing’s heating plant also supported roof melting and deck snow melt, with systems designed for both efficiency and operational redundancy.
